The 2009 NFL Draft won't be happening until late April of 2009 but there is already a lot of buzz about it. Interest and speculations abound as to who will end up in which team, who will pick first and who will be traded. Searches for the keywords 2009 NFL draft and 2009 NFL draft order have topped the internet search charts recently, as well as keywords for the 2009 NFL playoffs and playoff berths. With the regular season done with, football fans now focus their attention on the playoffs and Superbowl 43, as well as the draft in four months time.

The victory of San Diego over the Denver Broncos sealed the playoff match-ups. On the AFC side, the Indianapolis Colts will visit the San Diego Chargers on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at
8 PM (ET) with the winner facing the Tennessee Titans. On the other hand, the Miami Dolphins will play host to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, January 4, 2009 (1 PM Eastern) with the winner facing the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans and the Steelers have first round byes.

Meanwhile, on the NFC side of the fence, the Atlanta Falcons face the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona on January 3 at 4:30 PM (ET). The winner of this match will meet the New York Giants in the next round. On January 4, the Minnesota Vikings play hot to the Philadelphia Eagles at 4:30 PM, with the winner facing the Carolina Panthers in the next round. The second round schedule are as follows:

Baltimore, San Diego or Indianapolis at Tennessee, (4:30 p.m. ET)
Arizona, Atlanta or Minnesota at Carolina, (8:15 p.m. ET)

Sunday, January 11, 2009
Arizona, Atlanta or Philadelphia at New York Giants, (1 p.m. ET)
Miami, San Diego or Indianapolis at Pittsburgh (4:45 p.m. ET)

The Conference title games will both be played on the following Sunday with the NFC starting at 3 PM and the AFC championship game following at 6:30 PM. Super Bowl 43 is lined up for 6 PM Eastern on February 1, 2009 in Tampa, Florida.

As for the 2009 NFL Draft, it is scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft will have two rounds on the first day, and five rounds on the second day. The Detroit Lions, by virtue of their poor record in the 2008 regular season, will have the overall top pick. The 2009 NFL draft order is as follows:
