The Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar de la Hoya fight is but two weeks away, and I can feel the excitement in local circles. Local newspapers have started with the pre-fight analysis, more frequent this time than in the past weeks with every sports columnist offering his own two cents
worth. TV ads have also began sprouting, reminding one and all about the date and time of the "live" via satellite telecast. However, knowing how local networks have handled previous Manny Pacquiao fights, this won't be LIVE at all as tons of commercials will be inserted between each round. Who says only Manny will make a killing with this fight? Ha! And the internet is already abuzz with articles and posts from thousands of Pinoy bloggers offering their own thoughts on the upcoming bout. Seems everyone is excited about the Manny Pacquaio vs Oscar de la Hoya match-up. Everyone except me.

I admit, I'm not as excited about this Pacquiao fight compared to the previous ones. When Manny faced David Diaz several months ago, this blog was host to a number of posts about the bout, with a few written two months before the fight. But now it's the exact opposite. In fact, this post was planned a few weeks earlier but I just didn't have the drive to do it. With the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar de la Hoya fight a mere two weeks away I had to force myself to write it today. Besides, everybody else seems to have written at least one post about the fight and I didn't want to be left behind.

When speculation started spreading about the possibility of a Pacquiao vs de la Hoya fight last year I was unexcited. In fact, I almost wished it wouldn't push through. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Manny Pacquiao or Oscar de la Hoya. I am a fan of both. But I didn't see why they had to fight each other as there were other boxers that each could face. Moreover, if they did fight, I told myself, it would be a no-bearing one as there wouldn't be a title at stake. Each excelled in his own weight division and was famous in his won right so fame wasn't the reason too. That only left money as the prime motive for such a bout and it dismayed me. I haven't recovered since.
