If you landed on this page looking for the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar de la Hoya fight results, you're in the right place. However, since the fight is still a week away as of this writing, you're a little bit early. This post is early as well, but I want to get a head start as I am predicting a busy week ahead. Rest assured that the Pacquiao vs de la Hoya fight results will be posted on this page next week, so do come back. For now, as we wait for the historic Pacquiao vs de la Hoya fight, allow me a few paragraphs of observation on the upcoming fight.

Will Manny Pacquiao's speed, stamina and conditioning reign supreme over the Golden Boy? Or will Oscar de la Hoya's advantage in size and reach be the dominant factor of the fight? What
about power? Manny Pacquiao has shown us the power of his punches in his previous fights, conquering his boxing foes with every bout. De La Hoya has likewise displayed the same ability, but he hasn't been consistent of late. Many doubt if the aging boxing superstar can still summon the same intensity from his punches. But who knows, he may surprise us all next week.

Update: Manny Pacquiao has WON, after Oscar de la Hoya quit in the ninth round! Read more about it HERE (includes a round-by-round analysis from USA Today)

On paper, Oscar de la Hoya looks like the more formidable fighter. He’s about twenty pounds heavier naturally, has a four-inch height advantage and a six-inch reach edge over his Filipino rival, who has only fought one time as a lightweight. However, statistics cannot be the sole basis of match predictions. No one knows this better than Manny Pacquiao who has fought and won fights despite the odds against him. Credit this to coach Freddie Roach, who has demanded more than 100% from his ward with every fight.

Despite the height and reach disadvantage, my money will be on Manny Pacquiao not only because he is a countryman, but because he has the power, conditioning and speed to beat Oscar de la Hoya. Besides, de la Hoya hasn't had much success with speedy opponents. This was his waterloo when he lost his biggest fight to date against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. last year. Moreover, the Golden Boy's fitness for this bout is suspect.
