After nine weeks of entertaining drama, wonderful performances (including the not-so-amusing antics of Cloris Leachman) and hundreds of hours of practice these celebrities must have endured, the winners were finally revealed. Was it Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer who surged into strong contention in the final stretch of this season? Was it Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson, underdogs in this year's finale as everyone seemed to be thinking that the title would be a battle between Brooke and Lance? Or was it Brooke Burke and Derek Hough, consistent front runners this season and current darlings of the Dancing with the Stars crowd with their fluid moves and stunning stunts, not to mention how hot they look on the dance floor?

The judges and voters have spoken and it's Brooke Burke and Derek Hough! Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson came in second and Lance and Lacey placed third. Brooke now joins a select
group of previous Dancing with the Stars winners that includes Kristi Yamaguchi, Helio Castroneves, Drew Lachey, Apolo Anton Ohno, Emmitt Smith and Kelly Monaco.

Days before the finale, all signs pointed to Brooke Burke and Derek Hough being crowned as the seventh champions of Dancing with the Stars. They were the strongest of the couples with their consistent performances throughout the season, and three perfect 30s in the process bolstered their chances of clinching the title. However, there were also some speculation that any of the two underdog pairs may score an upset. With Lance and Lacey making a huge effort in the previous week, odds had Lance Bass ready to challenge Brooke Burke for the coveted mirror ball. Then came the freestyle, and Brooke killed it. The perfect tens from the judges said it all, with the following comment from from lead judge from Len Goodman that almost sealed it, "That was the best freestyle I've ever seen."

But what was quite surprising about the results is the third place finish of Lance Bass and Lacey. I was expecting them to place a very strong second considering their performance the previous week. However, the voters thought otherwise. Their not-so-impressive hip hop dance in the finale must have turned off some voters. Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson's second place finish was quite a shocker for me as well, and for a while there I was fearing an upset after Lance and Lacey were announced as third. He he.
