Charice Pempengco is making waves again on YouTube again. Just a week after her guest appearance on Good Morning America with mentor David Foster, she was again on television singing 'Because You Loved Me'. This time, however, she wasn't in the studio as she performed outside, on a float on Macy's 2008 Thanksgiving Day Parade! Yup, our very own Charice Pempengco was part of this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade riding Good Housekeeping's showboat float. And the theme was quite appropriate for her as she delivered another showstopper of a performance.
It was by pure accident that I discovered Charice Pempengco's participation on this year's Macy's Thanksgiving parade. I was actually watching a video of Rick Astley's performance on
the 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends' float when a voice over announced that the next performance coming up was that of "the Philippines singing sensation, Charice". Pleasantly surprised, I immediately looked for it on YouTube and was immediately rewarded with the following high quality clip of Charice Pempengco. Wearing a red and white ensemble complete with boots and cap, she sang one of her favorite songs, Celine Dione's 'Because You Loved Me', the same song for which she was given a standing ovation during her idol's Madison Square Garden concert last month.
Slowly, the little girl who was a mere runner up in a local singing contest is making a name for herself internationally, a feat that has continuously made her Filipino countrymen proud. Congratulations, Charice, you're doing just fine. Keep it up.Charice Pempengco on Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
BTW, she is now always billed as Charice, striking the Pempengco surname out of her professional name. A good decision, I might add, since Americans may find it hard to pronounce her complete Filipino name.
