When I saw the phrases "brad pitt tattoo" and "brad pitt tattoos" on Google Trends yesterday, I thought Brad Pitt has new tattoo that some of his fans are going crazy about and didn't bother to read up on it. Not interested, I told myself. Not until this morning did I find out that there's an amusing story behind the 'Brad Pitt tattoo sensation'.

At a recent appearance on Oprah to promote his new film "The Curios Case Of Bejamin Button" with co-star Cate Blanchett, Oprah thought it waise to onvite some of his fans to call in and talk to the superstar through web cam. Well, one of these fans who called in was Christina from Ontario, Canada. She opened her spiel by congratulating Brad on his new film, his great film choices, his beautiful kids and, of course, his relationship
with Angelina Jolie. Her next line, though, made Brad Pitt a little uncomfortable. She wanted to know more about Brad's tattoos - specifically the one on his arm, the 'iceman' and the new one right under the Daniel Pearl quote. She really sounded like she knew what she was talking about, prompting Oprah to jokingly ask later if they had known each other in a past life. He he. But Brad Pitt was fidgeting, obviously very uneasy about the topic which was further aggravated by Cate's prodding for Brad to show his tattoos, to the roar of the audience. And when Christina mentioned another tattoo on his tummy, Brad Pitt's face turned beet-red!

Christina wanted to know what the tattoos meant but Brad didn't answer her directly. "If you have a partner, it's great fun. It's a great thing to do together and it becomes more personal in its own right. I'd rather just kinda leave it at that." It was obvious that there is something personal about those tattoos and what they signify, and he didn't want to discuss this publicly.

I never noticed that Brad had that many tattoos. But then again, I'm not 17 year fan like Christina, who obviously is so obsessed by her idol's bodily decorations that she couldn't stop badgering him on national television. Poor Brad. But that's what you get for being a superstar. Part of the package.

'The Curios Case of Benjamin Button', the movie Brad Pitt was promoting on Oprah, is the story of a man who starts aging backwards, with bizarre consequences. Due for release on December 25, 2008 (Christmas day), it is adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties (??) and ages backwards - a grand tale of his not-so-ordinary life and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time. Starring in the film with Brad and Cate Blanchett are Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond. Watch the trailer below.
