The governor of Alaska heads to the 2008 VP debate against Joe Biden with one very important mission - erase the doubts about her qualifications that has dogged her campaign ever since it was announced that she would be John McCain's running mate. Though there was a significant degree of excitement about her right after her GOP convention appearance, it has been a downhill run since then. Her first interview with Charles Gibson brought forth more questions than answers for undecided voters seeking more information about her, and a series of interviews with CBS News anchor Katie Couric recently raised questions about how well-informed she is on a range of issues the next president will face. These coupled with the unending media coverage and criticism about her personal life and political record have eroded whatever advantage she and John McCain had over the Obama-Biden ticket. Recent polls have indicated that voters are developing serious doubts about her readiness for the job. One study says that 25 percent of likely voters believe Sarah Palin has the right experience to be president. That's down from 41 percent just after the GOP convention, when the Alaska governor made her well-received debut on the national stage.

Indeed, it seems that Sarah Palin has become one of the more important issues in this campaign. This 2008 VP debate with Joe Biden will give her a chance to clear the negative perception that has been building around her, erase the doubts. Recent Sarah-bashing in the media may even work well for Republican running mate. Expectations from voters are so low at this point and a strong showing will overcome some (if not all) the negative press she has been receiving lately. She could fake everyone out! A poor debate will, however, cement a negative image for Sarah Palin with just a few weeks before the election.

Joe Biden, seasoned senator, experienced speaker and foreign policy expert will, no doubt, never let his Republican foe win this one. For sure, he will try to block every attempt by Sarah Palin to get back into the campaign.

This 90-minute coverage will definitely be watched by millions tomorrow, for different reasons. Many will try to see who the best VP candidate is through this face-off, others will be watching if Sarah Palin can recover from her campaign slump and still there will be viewers who will be on the lookout for more blunders from the governor of Alaska. Blunders that we may see re-enacted by the brightest comedians in the coming days.
