Charice Pempengco meets Mariah Carey (VIDEO)

This is all over the news today, another story about the country's latest pride and joy, Charice Pempengco, who again marked another milestone in her young career - she met one of her music idols, Mariah Carey. This comes almost a month after her performance with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden at the latter's concert. If you will recall, that duet was initiated by Celine when Charice was introduced to her by Oprah through video conference in her TV show.

Charice was again in cloud nine after she got the chance to talk and hug Mariah Carey who has been described as one of the best-selling female pop artists of the millennium. Charice met Mariah at Wynn's Hotel for the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation's Grand Slam for Children benefit concert last Saturday, October 11 in Las Vegas where Charice was one of the guest performers, facilitated most probably by David Foster. In a previous interview with ABS CBN
News, Charice shared that aside from Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Celine Dion, meeting Mariah Carey was also one of her dreams.

A YouTube video uploaded by Charice's ever-loyal fan, FalseVoice, shows Mariah Carey (who arrived with Nick Canon) tightly hugging the young diva Charice.

I'm very happy for Charice. She is gradually fulfilling her dreams. But after watching that video I couldn't help but ask myself: Isn't that one of the most fake smiles you have ever seen on Mariah Carey? And Nick too. They look like typical Hollywood on-cam smiles. I hope I'm mistaken but their expressions just seem to be saying something else. He he.

Update: ABS CBN reports that Charice was given another standing ovation at the charity event. When I get my hands on that performance video, I'll post it here. Keep checking back regularly.
