Ever since word got around that Microsoft was embarking on a $300 million advertising campaign last month, everybody has been looking forward to it. And when Jerry Seinfeld's name was mentioned as the star of that campaign, the excitement grew even more. After all, he made us laugh as the star and writer of his own sitcom for ten years. Suffice it to say that audiences were expecting more of the same wit and charm, and an answer to Mac's earlier ads. However, when I saw the ad on YouTube yesterday, I was at a loss for....everything! I didn't get it. It had Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld buying shoes, a Conquistador, an ass wiggle in the end and some talk about moist cake. I had to ask myself the following: Is there a hidden message somewhere that I failed to comprehend? Was I not paying attention? Or is this just the first installment of a continuing story?
Twenty-four hours later I still don't get it (though the Bill Gates mug shot was kinda amusing). For some reason I expected something more for a multimillion dollar campaign, at least something that I understand. For those of you who got the message, can you please explain it to me?Bill Gates / Jerry Seinfeld Microsoft Vista Ad
Update: Reactions on the ad from readers all over cyberspace are quite similar to mine. At least that's an assurance that I'm not that dumb (or we all are!). He he.
