The internet is again abuzz with this latest piece of tech news. Google has just announced the launch (and download) of its new browser, named Google "Chrome", to rival Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox. Chrome will be available for download anytime today, Tuesday September 2, 2008. Initially, it will be available in
100 countries (haven't checked yet if ours is included in the list) and will work with Windows operating system. According to its announcement, Google is still working on versions compatible with Apple Inc.'s Mac computer and the Linux operating system.
What's the significance of this to you and me? Well, it means that we'll have another choice of browser, something that promises to be more efficient and more user friendly the the ones in the market today. But what does it mean to the tech
market in general? Hmm, I'm no techie but if you ask me this is another step in Google's goal of total internet domination, Google imperialism as some refer to it. He he. The browser is the user's window to the internet, the gateway so to speak. And he who controls the gateway will definitely control the user and his trip into cyberspace. Google already dominates the search engine side of the equation, and now it is trying to eat into the browser pie on Microsoft's fridge.
I've tried to get more info on Google Chrome browser but my research has turned up negative as of yet. Probably in a few days time after the Chrome downloads have been made available to the Chrome-curious public. Not that I'm that eager to download Google Chrome and try it out for myself. No, not me. I'll sit this one out and probably try it after the dust has settled. I've learned my lesson with Firefox 3.Update: I am still trying to locate the site where one can download the Google Chrome browser. All my efforts have turned up negative results but I'm still trying. Will post the link here when I find it. Thanks for dropping by.
Update: After quite a long wait, we can now download the Google Chrome browser HERE.
There are a few Chrome screen shots already available on the net for those who can't wait to see it, though I found them to be more discouraging rather than whetting my tech appetite to try it. Looks simple and cartoonish, even crude. Not like the Firefox browser I'm currently using.Google Chrome browser screenshot

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all pans out. Google Chrome download sites and links may be sprouting all over the net as we speak. But for now, I will just sit back and wait for your reviews on this new web browser before I even move a finger to try it.Google Chrome browser download available today!
