Welcome!

a blogging dilemma: a move from Blogger to WordPress?

blogger to wordpress, blogger vs wordpress, wordpress vs blogger, migrate to wordpress, migrate from blogger to wordpress, transfer blogger to wordpress, change blogger to wordpressFor some time now, I have been thinking of moving this blog again, this time to WordPress. Having moved to my own domain a few months ago was like having my own house, gaining independence, striving on my own. I am sure many bloggers out there (you know who you are) know what I am talking about. The move to a new house was smooth and relatively hassle-free, thanks to the free hosting services of Blogger. For a newbie like me it was the best option. Besides, it's free! However, much as this option offers advantages, it also has disadvantages and I'm gradually learning about them by the day. Aside from the limited flexibility of Blogger-hosted blogs, optimization when it comes to my new-found passion of SEO is a disadvantage too. I should have used WordPress when I started blogging.

But one thing holds me back (aside from the cost, he he). I have zero knowledge of the process involved in migrating, and lesser knowledge still of webhosting. I have had my share of reading horror stories on making the wrong web hosting choice and ruining one’s invested hard work on his blog. I’m sure you have heard and read about these too and I don’t want to be another victim.

To add to my worries, there are a lot of web hosting services out there offering various options for the newbie blogger, offers someone like me find confusing. Often, one would be enticed by cheap offers too good to resist. However, this should not be the sole basis of choosing a web host as I have recently learned from reading tutorials and help articles from Web Hosting Rating. Often, reliability is a problem with these cheap offers. Moreover, most suffer from low disk space and poor technical support, as I have found out through reading testimonies on the net.

I haven't fully decided if I will make the big jump to WordPress. However, I will continue to read up on the subject and weigh my options in the process. I also have a lot more to learn about web hosting before I venture into migrating to WordPress and choosing the best web host for my site. I still have a lot of unanswered questions in my head like how much disk space I need, what is windows web hosting and what features do I look for. All of these are explained in the web hosting tutorials and articles at webhostingrating.com, and I plan to take full advantage of these before I decide my next move.
