China ended the 2008 Beijing Summer Games with another dazzling display of an Olympic closing ceremony (see photos below), capping a 16-day spectacle of athletic feats, world records and drama with a star-studded presentation. No, they didn't let the girl with the crooked teeth sing. And there were no fake fireworks this time (at least none that I know of). But there was enough star power to rival the best fireworks the Chinese could offer. Placido Domingo sang towards the end of the presentation, together with a host of China's best artists. My, even Jackie Chan sang! And then there was Leona Lewis, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and football superstar David Beckham to welcome the world to London for 2012.

Though the whole event pales in comparison to the spectacular opening ceremony two weeks ago, it was still dazzling, with an array of some 7,000 participants dancing, singing, jumping and performing various feats to the delight of the capacity crowd.
