The most famous goat in cyberspace is missing! In fact, he hasn't been seen or heard from in the past month or so and many of his avid fans and followers are have been missing his services, this one included. I'm actually getting worried that I may never see that old reliable goat again. What the hell happened to Pingoat? Is this the end of him (it)?

I have been using Pingoat ever since I learned of the value of pinging more than four hundred posts ago. I've tried other Ping services in the past - Ping-o-Matic, AutoPinger, PingMyBlog, Pingates, King Ping - but nothing compares to Pingoat. I rarely got an error message using its service compared to the aforementioned pingers and, based on my random experiments, my posts got indexed faster with Pingoat. While some you may contest this claim, listen to this. I have been having a hard time getting my posts indexed since losing Pingoat's services and I have changed nothing in my blog or posting routine to attribute this to anything else. And what worries me more is that about a week after Pingoat's "demise" AutoPinger followed suit! Are these just maintenance problems as reported on their sites or were they sabotaged? He he.
This is certainly bad news for thousands of us using their ping services. For now, I have to be content with King Ping though I also sample PingMyBlog once in a while. As for the much-touted Ping-o-Matic, I rarely use it.

How about you, what ping service do you use? Can anyone out there recommend something better as a temporary (I hope) replacement for Pingoat? Or does anyone have news about what really happened to the Goat?
