Welcome!

how to waste gas: another day of (mis) adventure

I was mugged again, just this afternoon. And it happened in broad daylight with about a half dozen people looking, watching. Well, they were being mugged too, I suppose. Okay, that's not exactly true. I wasn't really robbed at gunpoint but it sure felt like it. In fact, I'm sure the feeling is the same for almost all drivers getting their gas tank filled. With the price of gasoline these days it feels like you're getting mugged every time you drive up to a gas station, only the gun is missing, and you're a willing victim.

I know. I have written a post about "my personal gas saving solutions" earlier last month and the general tip I gave was to try to avoid using the car by walking, using a bike or taking public transportation. God knows I tried my best to save as much as possible but there are some valid and unavoidable situations when the use of the car is your only choice. Today's trip, however, was neither valid nor unavoidable. I was just itching for a drive. I missed my
adventures at the wheel, the long drive out of town, my singing (a la motor mouth) and swinging to the beat of radio music, and my usual rants about Manila's traffic nightmare. I just had to satisfy this hunger. True enough, I enjoyed my drive. And with the heavy downpour later this afternoon, it was the cool but flooded and traffic-burdened Manila roads that greeted me. It took me hours to get home but somehow, the masochist in me enjoyed every minute of it! Ha ha. Until it was time to refill the gas tank! Argh.

Today's (mis) adventure was fun, for the most part. But it is one adventure that I will most likely avoid doing if I still want to have money for food and shelter. Maybe I can have the same degree of satisfaction using a bike. Nah, that won't do. However, a motorbike might. I wonder how much a motorbike costs these days. Hmm.

Thought bubble: I know I'm just trying to be coy about all this but once my gas wasting stupidity sinks in I'll regret it no end.
