I thought it was too good to be true when I first saw this video, but after some internet snooping, it's no hoax. A car that runs on water will soon be available in Japan. And any kind of water will do - tap water, rain, seawater or even tea. Its Japanese manufacturer, Genepax, hopes to start mass production so that we can start to benefit from this technology and, more importantly, escape from the clutches of oil and our generous friends from OPEC!
The technology sounds simple enough. Once water is poured into the car's tank, an energy generator takes hydrogen from the water and releases electrons that power the engine. Its manufacturers claim that a liter of water runs the car at a speed of 80 kph for about an hour. Now how's that for efficiency? Now all we have to do is stock up on water in the car and we'll be ready to go anywhere! (Video after the jump)
This is certainly good news. In fact, it is an encouraging development at a time when the whole world is presently reeling from one oil price hike after another. And there are no signs that the price of oil is going to go down anytime soon, fueled by (pun intended) the thirst for the precious fluid by rapidly growing economies spearheaded by China and India.
I hope this is the answer we've been waiting for. A water-powered car will certainly be cheaper to run and, what's more, it's eco-friendly too! This may also lead to the use of water to power other machines running on oil or oil-based products, and that will be great news for the whole planet. The Water-Powered Car
