For sure, we will hear that famous "BEAT L.A." cheer once again when they play in Boston, and witness a galaxy of stars from Hollywood when Los Angeles hosts the games. But this is more than a championship. This Lakers-Celtics finals is not just about the trophy. I understand the implications of this series and it’s not just an NBA finals anymore. The stage is bigger than that. It is a rivalry that is as old as basketball itself. A rivalry that may have started in 1959 when the Boston Celtics swept the then Minneapolis Lakers and continued through the sixties. These next games will be the biggest that any of the players have ever played in. Let that sink in for a while and know that this Lakers-Celtics finals series will have more at stake than anything for the past decade. It is not just about the 2008 NBA championship anymore, it is bragging rights to be the best NBA franchise in history.
