Like millions of other movie fanatics out there, I am eagerly awaiting the release of "The Dark Knight", not only because it is the latest installment of the ever successful Batman franchise, but more so because I want to see the much-publicized last screen performance of the late Heath Ledger.

I have avoided reading internet articles about the movie for I don't want to spoil the suspense, but based on the few snippets I have heard on the radio and seen in various web mentions, "The Dark Knight" is awesome both in story and special effects. It is also noteworthy that Heath Ledger's version of the Joker has been earning praises as early as several months ago. Various adjectives have been used to describe his Joker - sinister, vile, menacing - all meant as compliments to the late actor's performance. Others, on the other hand, have found a
parallel between Ledger's tragic personal life and his Joker's grim state of mind, concluding that this may have led to his untimely death. Creepy huh? Whatever it was, this is undoubtedly the most unique version of the caped crusaders' arch nemesis, something that millions of viewers are looking forward to. And this, I think, is the movie's strongest pulling power.
