I was clearing the pantry of some clutter yesterday when I saw this headline on an old newspaper tabloid: "'Harry Potter' naked!" I grabbed it immediately and proceeded to open the pages. If Harry Potter is naked, then Hermione shouldn't be far behind. He he. The pervert in me has been awakened!

It turned out that Hermione isn't part of the article. No mention of her or her state of undress, but the headline was correct. 'Harry Potter' is really taking his clothes off, sort of. Okay, before you jump into any conclusion about JK Rowling's boy wizard, the news article wasn't really talking about Harry Potter but Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who portrays him in the blockbuster film series. Yup, the young actor is shedding his clothes for a Broadway play. He is
reprising the role of Alan Strang, the stable boy with an obsession on horses in the play Equus. This may be old news to some of you (it was an old tabloid after all) but not to me.

As I read the article further, I couldn't help but wonder why a successful young actor would risk his career to do such an off-beat role? Why take his clothes off and reveal the merchandise for all the world to see (unless he's a closet exhibitionist)? Why is 'Harry Potter' showing oof his 'wand' on Broadway? Then it hit me. This may just be what the young actor needs, a defining role that will help him break free from the shadow of Harry Potter. With the film series coming to an end soon he will have to find a way to establish himself as an actor beyond the famous character, and this stage role will help him do that. Quite drastic if you ask me, but sometimes shocking the public is the best way to establish an image. Right, Paris?

I am sure my teenage niece (a Harry Potter freak) doesn't know about this yet or else she would have talked endlessly about it. I better not show her the tabloid article or she might start pestering us for a trip to New York! Yikes!
