Welcome!

the secret to a high Google page rank?

PR, pagerank, Google PR, Google page rank, High page rank secrets, PR techniques, PR secrets, PR tips, pagerank tips, First of all, my regular readers (all six of you, he he) may be wondering why I am writing about blogging tips and page rank. I may have touched on PR in the past but have never given tips and pointers about it. Is this the start of a shift to that niche for this blog, you may ask. The answers is a definite NO. I just found an interesting page rank "revelation" that needs to be shared.

Most of us have labored endlessly to get a high page rank for our sites. Links, SEO, domain age, keywords, click through rates, posting frequency, traffic and user behavior - these are but some of the ingredients many blogging savants have pointed to as the pre-requisites to a high Google page rank. However, Sameer Bandal did none of those and got a PR5 for his blog!
Yup, a PR5 for sameerbandal.blogspot.com. He seems to have proven earlier theories wrong because he never bothered with any of those factors. In fact, it seems like he all he did was sleep. Yup, apparently sleep is more important. He he.

Yesterday I woke up early as I had some work to do..n as I could not sleep again, I was just surfing here n there...Suddenly I felt like checking the page rank of my blog... and whew! This timepass blog of mine got a page rank of 5! (For those losers who don't know what is page rank, just Google it :) )

So coming back to it, I don't understand how it got a page rank as high as that. I don't update my blog so often. Neither I have back links from great sites. My traffic also doesn't go beyond 20 even on a lucky day...But I am not complaining!
Anyways.. sleeping now...

Can you imagine that? He we are laboring day and night ( sometimes even until the wee hours) just to get some traffic and a decent page rank for our blog and all we get is a PR2, 3 or even a zero. While someone who claims to be doing almost nothing gets a much-coveted PR5! It sounds illogical, I know, especially to SEO experts out there, but what can I say? I even double-checked his claim and confirmed that it is indeed a PR5 for his blog.

So what have we learned from this? Pick the most appropriate answer:

a) this is a freak of Google's page rank algorithm; links, SEO, traffic still rule
b) all work and no sleep makes blogging an unworthy activity
c) Google is stupid
d) all of the above

I am planning to test this new-found theory by setting up a blog and doing almost nothing. He he. Then I will update you on the result after about three months. For now, I must bid adieu and go to sleep.
