Judging from the number of articles and news reports I have been reading about Arnel Pineda, it has been a very busy and successful six months since Journey announced that he would be their lead singer in December 2007. He debuted with Journey on February 21, 2008 at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile. The band also performed at the Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago on February 23rd with Peter Frampton and Earth, Wind and Fire and, according to news reports, the Chilean media acclaimed Arnel's performance: "The new vocalist fit very well with the band, his vocal aptitudes shining through, which are very similar to the legendary musician of the band, Steve Perry."

Journey also recently completed a new studio album called "Revelation" which is slated for release on June 3, 2008, in the US. This will immediately be followed by their concert tour which begins in Spain on June 8, followed by four dates in Germany, and one date in the
Netherlands. Journey then tours the United Kingdom from June 17 through June 28, 2008, with one already sold out date in Ireland on June 25, 2008. The US tour begins on July 9, 2008, in Denver and continues through October 11, 2008, in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Wow, that is one busy schedule, especially the US tour which will feature fifty-four (54) dates from July 09 to October 11, 2008. That's an average of one concert every three to four days! (You can check their schedule on the Journey website.)

Arnel Pineda & Journey on Ellen

It was in March of this year when I posted an article about Arnel Pineda and how Ellen DeGeneres wanted him on her show. Well, wait no more Pinoy fans because Journey finally made it to Ellen. This is posted on their website:

Journey performed to an electrified crowd at the Ellen DeGeneres show. The show was taped on May 22nd and will air on May 28th. They performed Separate Ways, After All These Years (From Revelation) and Faithfully. Journey fans that attended reported that the band sounded fantastic and Ellen's reactions to Journey was "WOW!" and "what a tour it will be!" She was totally into Journey!! The audience was on their feet and dancing throughout the performance!

That is one performance to look forward to especially for us Pinoy fans who may never have the chance to see their famous compatriot perform live. But wait, according to an entry in Wikipedia, "In the closing months of 2008, Journey plans to tour Japan, Australia, and the Philippines." Let's keep our fingers crossed and pray that this pushes through.

Charice Pempengco on 'David Foster & Friends' concert

This has been in the news lately. In fact, it was featured in the evening news a few minutes ago showing a video of Charice's performances in the said show. Dubbed as 'David Foster and Friends', it was held in Las Vegas in honor of the famous composer. Performing with Charice on stage were Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Babyface, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Kenny G, Katharine McPhee, Brian McKnight, Boz Scaggs, pianist William Joseph, Renee Olstead and Cheryl Lynn.

Madonna Decena and Charlie Green

After impressing the judges and the audience with their performances, Madonna Decena and Charlie Green await the semi-finals of 'Britain's Got Talent' where they will be pitted against thirty-eight (38) other performers who passed the earlier rounds. Both of them are counting on the support of Filipinos in the United Kingdom since voting is based on mobile phone texting.
