I thought it was going to be Carly Smithson's turn top go home this week, or Syesha's. After all, they have been in the bottom three a number of times in the past month, the most among the
remaining American Idol hopefuls (I think). Moreover, with the surprising eviction of Michael Johns last week, I thought voters were out to cast off the outsiders in the contest, in favor of homegrown American talent (it is American Idol after all). But I was wrong (my apologies). Voters have finally decided that Kristy Lee Cook's time is up despite performing slightly better than some contestants last night.
I agree with the vote and I am glad she's out. Don't get me wrong, I am not one who will gloat about another person's misfortune. However, I think she had this eviction coming for some weeks now. In fact, I think she should have been evicted a month ago, before Chikezie, David Hernandez, Ramiele and certainly before Michael Johns. I've said this before and I'll say it again - among the top twelve hopefuls this season, I think her performances have been the most uninspiring. Not only because I'm no country music fan but because I find her voice too squeaky for my taste. Having said that, she may have a career beyond Idol after all. Update: The wait is over! American Idol season 8 is here! Watch the 2009 American Idol 8 premiere, aka American Idol season 8 premiere 2009, and see the auditions for new talents this year.
The American Idol 8 premiere has been invaded by Katrina Darrell, the American Idol 8 bikini girl, also known as the 2009 American Idol bikini audition. And see Kara DioGuardi, the new judge, in action.
