“Drop on my Entrecard and you’ll receive a drop back!” That is what’s written on my Entrecard tagline, and that is exactly what I do. I keep track of all my droppers daily and return the favor by visiting their sites and dropping my card. And in the process, I have discovered some interesting blogs I wouldn’t have known existed. That’s the beauty of this system. Aside from the advantage of “free advertising” (it won’t cost you a single cent), dropping cards on members’ sites will help you discover interesting posts and sites. Some may entertain you, others may move you. But a majority of the blogs I’ve discovered have helped me in my blogging, with helpful tips on marketing, monetizing my site or some technical stuff that enhanced my blog’s look and function.

However, my main objective in joining Entrecard was for the traffic. The promise of additional exposure through free ads and traffic though card drops intrigued me when I first heard of this system. And, since becoming a member, it has delivered quite nicely on this promise. One facet of the system leaves me wanting, however. Reciprocal visits are quite low. I have been maxing out on my Entrecard drops (300 daily) for the past two months or so, in the hope that a big percentage of these will be given back. However, after keeping track of my droppers for the past three weeks, I found out that only 45-55% of my drops are being returned. And that already includes visits from my 50 or so Recipro-Drops comrades! Depressing huh? I was hoping for at least 75-80% return on my “investment”.

Maybe my expectations are too high. Maybe I’m dropping on the wrong sites. Maybe I need to connect with my dropped sites, like commenting on their posts perhaps? Hmm, a lot of maybes. All I know is, I need to change something in the way I drop cards if I want to maximize my Entrecard exposure, soon. Any tips? How are you doing with your Entrecard?
