After three successful campaigns in 2007, a new challenge awaits bloggers on May 15, 2008. 'Bloggers Unite' has been officially launched to once again harness the power of blogging to make a single statement, to raise awareness on another social cause - this time it's the issue of human rights.
There is a vast ocean of topics to choose from, a seemingly endless list of human rights concerns that beset our modern world. The more obvious of these are current headline-huggers like the plight of Tibet, the human crisis in Darfur or the continued struggle in Iraq. Surely, many will write about these. However, let us not forget issues that are much closer to home, like press freedom, the right to food, work and education, and
equality before the law. We may even raise the issue of a censorship-free internet, definitely a concern for all bloggers.
Let us collectively raise our voices for human rights on May 15. Let us show the world that we can do more than write about scandals, gossip, the latest gadget or how to make money online. Even for just a day, let us jointly express our social concern to help make a positive impact on the world through blogging. See you then.
