Welcome!

summer is definitely here!

I woke up early this morning and headed straight to the PC in the other room, my mind filled with several topics worthy of a blog post. The day before was a mixture of excitement and frenzy over my nephew’s graduation that I had no time to make an entry. I vowed to do one today and was looking forward to my usual day long online addiction. But just as I was about to enter the next room, I stopped in my tracks. That familiar sound of fingers tapping on the keyboard meant that someone has already beaten me to my PC! And when I finally entered, there they were, two nieces and one nephew on summer break fighting over my constant companion (and source of extra income) for the last six months!

I had forgotten that it was already summer break. It will be a struggle to keep my usual blogging pace, I thought. Though they have their own PC in their room, my nieces prefer using mine as it is faster. What about my Entrecard drops, my paid posts, my blog hopping? Surely, I have to make
adjustments for the next sixty days if I want to keep my sanity and blog site at the same time.

Summer is definitely here. I should have noticed the following signs as early as a week ago:

  • The malls are always full, from the time they open their doors in the morning until closing time. But most of these patrons are not there to shop, but to take advantage of free air conditioning!
  • You can hear the sound of the Playstation running from early morning until late at night.
  • You can never get a slot at the neighborhood internet café, and it’s first come first serve at your computer at home. Your nephews wake up early so you’ll have to wait your turn!
  • The phone is always busy when you’re calling home. (These kids on summer break can’t seem to run out of chitchat.)
  • Someone is lying on the couch all day, with a Gameboy, PSP or DS covering his face!
  • Fast food joints are enjoying brisk sales as always. But aside from burgers, fries and fried chicken, customers are pigging out with a new bestseller – the halo-halo!
  • Snacks in the fridge seem to vanish mysteriously.
  • You faint when you receive the electric bill! From a usual modest consumption, the meter seemed to gave gone berserk!
  • The ice cream vendor going around the neighborhood has a big smile on his face.

I have since declared a truce with my feuding nieces and nephews. After a combination of pleads, promises and bribes (whew, that was expensive!), I have finally regained control of MY personal computer. My blogging future is finally safe once more!
