It was a familiar scene. I was again hard-pressed for something to write about. My
notepad stared at me with a mix of scribbled ideas but my mind was empty. Somehow, all those thoughts failed to gel and take shape. All that beer and liquor from my birthday celebrations two days ago must have washed away my IQ, I thought. I had to think of posting something else other than my birthday. However, Google (googel, googl, goggle, gogle, gogel, googal) had other ideas.
As I opened my homepage this afternoon, there it was glaring at me. Something I didn’t expect and didn’t want to see. A PR 0! Yup, that’s right, Google handed me a zero page rank as a belated birthday gift! How thoughtful of them. I was downgraded, most
probably due to my paid posts (the usual suspects) which I just started the past month.
I was not expecting it. I thought I had fooled the big G when page rank updates started popping up on many websites last weekend. Many have been raving about their upgrades for days, while others were sulking about their misfortunes. I thought I had been spared since it has been almost a week and my rank had not changed. In fact, I was even contemplating on writing about it, how my rank didn’t change despite my paid posts! Ha ha. So much for my planned gloating!
Well, there’s nothing I can do but accept it. I knew this was a big possibility when I started courting those buzz marketers. It has happened to many other bloggers before me so why should I be surprised? Anyway, with my plan to transfer to my own domain by next week, a zero page rank was inevitable, with or without Google’s (googel, googl, goggle, gogle, gogel, googal)intervention. Besides, there is more to blogging than page ranks, right? (Reassure me, please.)
postscript: As I was dropping Entrecards earlier, I jst saw one site with an Alexa ranking of 872,000+ with a page rank of 4, and another one with an Alexa ranking of 782,000+ having a page rank of 5! *&%$#^@)&^^%^*(&%^%$!!! How stupid can this page ranking be?
