Welcome!

christmas is in the air!

.
walking around the mall last weekend, there was no mistaking that the longest christmas celebration in the world has begun. why so early? of course not. filipinos are known to start preparing for the season once the “ber” months (september, october, ….)begin, so the timing is just perfect.

christmas carols playing in the background, stores are gradually getting ready for the biggest shopping season of the year. national bookstore has begun displaying their christmas décor, lots of it. they are definitely one of the first stores to do this every year. garlands, christmas trees in every size and color, bows, ornaments. oh, and the christmas lights are flickering like crazy in one corner of the store! i have such a nice time browsing through their displays this early. soon SM will follow suit and display their own line of decors and trinkets. what i like most is going to Our Home or any home furnishing store and, as soon as you walk in, the smell of pine-scented candles greets you with this signature scent of the coming season. wow. wasn’t able to go to any home furnishing shop last weekend and missed this experience. i remembered it just now. definitely won’t forget to visit one on my next mall jaunt this weekend.

i can’t wait for the season to go full blast. i can’t wait to see brightly lit shops along the main highways selling the traditional parols (christmas lanterns) that we have come to love every year. i can’t wait to see the decorated lamp posts along roxas boulevard, ayala avenue and all the main thoroughfares of the metro. this feastive seasons usually brings out the best in me, in all of us, and i really cannot wait to see that.
