long live the king!
roger federer has avenged his defeat at roland garros. still the king of wimbledon with a 5-peat! i was teary eyed when he won. i know it was a hard fought battle with rafa nadal breathing down his neck. it was a very close game. i was even scared because there were instances in the five-setter that i could sense defeat for my idol. and the tie-breakers! it's a good thing roger has one of the best tie-break records in the current tour.
what else can i say? federer is not only the ultimate tennis player but the way he plays is sheer artistry! he glides through the court, stretching, turning, running, jumping. just like watching a dance of sorts. he's definitely a master of the game of tennis!
and he played infront of his idol bjorn borg, equalling his five-peat. saw the gallery of legends watching the game - borg, connors, martina, billie jean and the older greats i cannot recall.
congrats roger. see you at the next grand slam.
congrats also to venus for winning the ladies' singles much to everyone's surprise. nobody predicted a venus win at the start of the tournament. i was hoping it would be serena. or at least anyone but maria sharapova! don't like her!
u.s. open next.
